One Day Group Digital Photographic Workshops
On Location on Dartmoor

A day of Photographic theory and practical advice from professional photographers Rachel Burch and Marion Frances Eastland

Programme for the day:
9am Meet at 9.am for 9.30 at venue TBC at time of booking
9.30-12 - A morning of Photographic theory for beginners, including controlling aperture, shutter speed, ISO, choosing lenses and composition techniques .
12-1pm - Lunch - Enjoy the lunch provided and take the opportunity to get to know the other members of the group.
1pm - 1.30pm - Short travel to outdoor location
1.30 - 4.30pm Arrive at the afternoon’s location where we will lead the afternoons practical session, (please see below.)

What you will need:

Bridge or SLR camera with capacity to control shutter speed and aperture
A tripod, if desired, waterproof Clothing and footwear
Notepad and pen for morning session
Own Transport
Instruction booklet for your camera
The group will be a maximum of ten people

Merrivale stone Row , a chance to photograph this amazing bronze age row and its many surrounding features of interest.

Tuesday 17th April 2012 -
Wistmans Wood -
An interesting walk to the famous ancient oak woodland near Two Bridges, central to the ancient heart of the moor.

Pew Tor - Classic Dartmoor landscapes to photograph, this dramatic tor is near Tavistock.

Thursday 24th May 2012
Burrator Reservoir, a session that will include the stunning Cuckoo Rock and the popular Norsworthy Bridge, an opportunity to work with landscapes and water.


Friday 8th June 2012 Peter Tavy Coombe, This beautiful waterfall gives a chance to work with water movement, as well as taking wider landscape shots.

Sheepstor This tor rises dramatically over western Dartmoor, it features in the recent ‘Warhorse’ film

Grenofen Woods This beautiful river walk forms part of the Walkham Valley between Tavistock and Horrabridge,

Wednesday 25th July 2012
Shaugh Prior, This national trust owned wood is home to the river Plym and the famous Dewerstone rock. An opportunity to photograph water , rocks and moss!

Thursday 9th August 2012
Great Staple Tor This tor is one of three on this walk, and commands views across to Bodmin Moor and Plymouth’s sound.

Friday 24th August 2012
Sharpitor and Leather Tor, located between Princetown and Yelverton, these tors offer a chance to photograph a classic Dartmoor landscape.

Cost of full day workshop - £90 per person
Or come at lunchtime for the afternoon session, for a fee of £50, lunch included. It will be assumed you have a basic knowledge of the topics covered in the morning.
